Welcome to my personal world of everyday musings! As people who know me well know, I’ve been threatening to start a blog for YEARS. I don’t know if it has anything to do with some subliminal concern for Mayan prophecy and a sense of urgency to make good on things before December 21st, but 2012 is turning out to be exactly what I resolved it be… the “Year of Finally Doing”.
And, you know what? Finally doing feels great!
Somehow or other, I haven’t suffered any adverse consequences or been plunged into irrecoverable scarcity either. Granted, I’ll be on a tighter budget through December, but it’s been worth every latte I’ll give up. I love driving again because I bought my dream SUV (okay, that was actually last year, but I’m finally doing stuff with it this year… baby steps).
I took advantage of an unscheduled home renovation project, post-water leak, and upgraded my vintage 1991 style bathrooms. I smile every time I look at them. More importantly, I want to clean them now.
I bought a carbon monoxide detector and finally got emergency prepared. Hopefully, that will stave off natural disasters in much the same way that putting on lipstick at the red light guarantees it will turn green.
I kicked off the new year by riding a dirt bike and going target shooting. I was kissed by a deer in the process, and will never eat venison again. Though, clay ducks and home intruders beware.
I tried snowboarding and was perfectly content to slide down the worst part of the hill on my rear-end in front of the cute young instructor. Hey, it made my niece laugh, and that’s always good for something. Apparently, getting older and not caring to impress handsome young men is too.
I began doing yoga and negotiated a promotion at work. I have more solid thighs and finances for it. Things could get crazy. I could try Pilates next and build a real nest egg, instead of a modest savings account that covers budget overruns.
It’s amazing, actually. Dreaming and doing is so empowering, and seems to beget even bigger dreaming and doing. Maybe there’s something to the power of goals and even Eckhart Tolle’s the “Power of Now”? Maybe I should add reading that to my list for 2012? (Note to Self).
So, in any event, I’m on a roll this year and hope you’ll enjoy joining me on my journey. I have no idea how this blog is going to evolve or ultimately turn out, but I can promise you two things: 1) I will be me, and 2) I will be me. Oh, and I’ll keep it real too.
Thanks for tuning in. Check back for future musings.
